- Protect your social security. Visit the official Social Security website. If you haven’t done so already, we suggest that you create an account or sign-in, and then download/print your earnings history. This will show your work history, contributions and your anticipated pay-out schedule based on your retirement age(s). Downloading/printing will provide you with physical information, in the event you need it someday.
- Freeze your credit: The three credit bureaus offer “Credit Freeze” at no cost/charge. A credit freeze restricts access to your credit report. If you suspect your personal information or identity was stolen, placing a credit freeze can help protect you from fraud. With DOGE accessing sensitive personal information, freezing your credit is one way that you can protect yourself. Visit each of their separate websites and opt to “Freeze” your credit. This can easily be reversed in the event you are applying for credit, a loan or mortgage.
