Our new name is officially COMMUNITY ACTION NETWORK.  Thank you for sharing this group with your friends and networking contacts.  Our group continues to grow each week. It’s encouraging to meet and connect with new people and experience our shared visions.   Your personal information is never shared to anyone outside of WCA ever.  We hope and plan to build on a collaboration with GAIN (Greater Assabet Indivisible Network) to combine our efforts and make larger impacts together.

This week, the BIG news is the HANDS OFF PROTESTS organizing nationwide for THIS Saturday April 5th.  Many of us from Westborough, Shrewsbury and Northborough certainly plan to attend the Worcester Protest at 12pm.  The following is a link with the information: https://www.mobilize.us/handsoff/event/764876/ A reminder we have been invited to make signs at Artbuild in Northborough Friday, April 4th 6-9pm  RSVP to IndivisibleBorosAndBeyond@gmail.com so they can make sure that they have enough space for everyone.  Come make signs for Tesla Takedown, or the BIG April 5th protest.

It may be helpful for people to reach out to a couple of media outlets to try to gain more coverage for the event:

Continue to call your reps, demand that they oppose the Trump Admin.  and the trampling of the constitution 5calls.org. Please keep making your calls every day!

At the meeting last week we shared our general visions to move the group forward to support a number of local and national efforts and build a community we can all count/lean on.

See below for events and other actions.

APRIL 5TH:  HANDS OFF NATIONAL PROTEST  – Hands Off OUR – Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security, Jobs, Books, Personal Data, Public Lands, Veteran Services, Consumer Protections, Schools, Libraries, Free Speech, LGBTQ+ Rights, Immigrants, Courts and more.

For other events: check the Mobilize calendar

Other Actions: Boycotts against oligarchy are gaining steam over the next few months.  These boycotts are helping us to 1) understand how much of our economic infrastructure is tied up in billionaire owned and controlled companies; 2) helping us think through how to wean ourselves to use more local and economically healthy choices, and 3) sending a message to billionaires that we can change our dependence on those services.

Here is the schedule of boycotts planned, and visit The People’s Union  website to understand more.

  • March 5th – April 17th – Target Boycott – 40 days – Appears to be having an impact: Stock Price 4/1/24 $177.82 / Price at close today 3/31/25 $104.36
  • April 7-13TH: Walmart Blackout – Shutting down spending at one of the biggest price-gouging, worker-exploiting corporations.
  • April 18TH: Economic Blackout #3 Another full 24-hour halt to the economy.
  • April 21-27TH: General Mills Blackout – Exposing food industry corruption.
  • April 26TH 3pm-5pm:  GAIN (Greater Assabet Indivisible Network) Will host an event at Assabet High School to discuss the long term effects of federal funding cuts to NIH, medical research and biomed industry to the MA and New England medical institutions, the general health of future generations and economy. The guest speakers will be from Umass Chan Medical Schools.  Mark your calendars.

On a happy note – COSTCO in the Delaware area has donated $52,000 worth of product to the Food Bank of Delaware.  This donation will provide meal kits each weekend and extended holiday to children at risk for hunger. In 2024 the program distributed meal kits to more than 9,000 children.  Let’s support COSTCO when we can!!
